I know you’ve been a big supporter of local music; who are some of your favorite bands past/present and why?
*P.Y.L.O.T.-The guys in this band are all pretty much awesome. I mainly only talk to Cody Meek who I’m sure you know. I remember the first time I saw them, they were playing Rev Fest and I was only 14. That show was amazing, I was with my stepsister and the both of us were just like “WOW!” The band was heavy and so full of energy. I will never forget that show. R.I.P., I’ll miss you all!
*Slander – When this band performs they remind me a lot of Motley Crue. Which is a great thing because I happen to love Motley Crue! Also, the guys themselves are just great, very nice, and caring people. I have seen them so many times I’ve lost count. I don’t remember the exact date; but, I remember when they brought out a banner at the parish center that they had everyone sign. Also, I remember instead of signing my actual name I signed it as “EvilKittie” because that’s who I was known as on lots of the local forums, some great memories indeed!
Ever think about picking up an instrument and starting your own band?
Why sure I have! When I was in high school I would day dream about being the drummer of some awesome band. Sadly, this didn’t ever happen. There was also the time I had some friends I went to high school with come over to my dad’s to play music, or at least try to haha. My dad is a music buff too so that is probably where I get it since he likes a lot of the same stuff as I do. Anyway, back to the story, my friend Beverly decided to play drums so I picked up the bass and that’s when I decided I wanted to learn to play bass; but, sadly I had no one to teach me that either. So, now all I have is my voice. I love singing, the sad thing is I have a shy side and I only sing in front of certain people.
Met anybody famous?
If you consider Bret Michaels of Poison famous, then yes I have. My friend Wendy and I ended up going to the Lime Light in Nashville to meet Mr. Michaels. The crappy thing was he didn’t arrive until around midnight. Then, all these girls completely surrounded him and were kissing all over him which made me want to throw up in my mouth. All I wanted to do was get my picture and get the heck out of that place. My husband and I also met Barney Greenway from Napalm Death on the “Bound by the Road” tour along with Straight Line Stitch, 36crazyfists, Invitro, and Devil Driver. Talk about lots of head banging! The good thing was that Barney was nice enough to sign both our hoodies.
Where’s the best place to stop after a show for some food?
I am going to have to say Waffle House, I guess it’s because every time I’ve eaten there the people working have been nice, service was decent, and the food has always been good. Plus, I haven’t gotten sick there like I did when I ate at some other places. It makes me shudder in disgust just thinking about it! So, thank you Waffle House for great food and great late night service!
Who is your favorite cartoon character?
I’m going to say Sponge Bob Square Pants. Mainly because the show can make me laugh more than anything else can. Which is a plus for me because I love being happy and keeping a smile on my face. I can’t forget the rest of the members though like Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, Mr.Crabs, Gary, Plankton and Pearl. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen almost every single Sponge Bob episode ever made more than twice. They just never get old to me.
Craziest thing to happen on a road trip to see a band was…
To be honest nothing crazy has happened to me while on the road trip itself. However, after getting there it did. My friend and I were at this Beneath the Sky show in Kettering, Ohio and I ended up getting pushed down into the mosh pit and kneed in the face. Talk about getting mad! However, the guy who did it was nice enough to help me back up. Other than that nothing crazy has really happened to me, ha-ha.
If you had 3 wishes; what would they be?
I wish nothing but happiness for my mother, my father, and my whole family. I am so lucky to have such a great family. They have truly done so much for me. I don’t think I will ever be able to repay them for doing all the things they have done for me. I am truly a lucky girl.
I wish they would somehow find a cure for all cancers; it’s such a sad thing to lose someone to cancer.
I wish nothing but the best to all of the musicians who are going out and doing what they love! I hope that they all end up making it big in the end!
