How did the business get started? We saw a need for a medical equipment business that genuinely cares enough about people to focus on making life easier for those who are handicapped or have disabilities.
What is your background? We have 30-plus years in business and business management.
What are your biggest challenges as a business? Staying current with the continually changing insurance industry’s plans and coverage requirements as well as ever-changing government regulations.
What’s your business philosophy? To provide compassionate patient care and high-quality, cost-effective products as well as quality service.
What issues are affecting your industry? As Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance companies cut their fee schedules, we’re seeing patients deprived of much-needed medical equipment and supplies. Unfortunately, our patients are suffering because of the government budget cuts in the medical field.
What are the factors that make your business successful? We feel two things have made us successful. One is that we have worked really hard to find quality products at reasonable prices for our customers. Secondly, our staff’s knowledge of products and compassion for customer service and needs.
How do you handle competition? We seem to have a really good working relationship with our competitors, as our goals are the same – making sure patients and clients alike receive products that are needed. In keeping with the community spirit, we refer clients to other companies if we don’t have a product in stock and the other companies do the same. Remember, it’s all about serving our customers.
What is your advice to someone thinking about opening a business? In today’s tough economic conditions, it’s always important to remember we are here to serve others regardless and customer service will always be the No. 1 goal of any business that wants to stay in business and be successful in that business. Oh yes, don’t be afraid of hard work and long hours, because, for any business to be successful in the short or long term, know that whatever work you put into your business the quality of that work will be exactly what you get out of it. Again remember, it’s all about serving others.
