Dustin McPhetridge, 27, 149 Hurd Road, Surgoinsville, Tenn., was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Bowling Green to five years in prison for traveling in interstate commerce with the intent to engage in sex with a minor.

McPhetridge was arrested as part of the televised “To Catch a Predator” sting in Bowling Green earlier this year. He pleaded guilty to the charge July 23, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville. McPhetridge was sentenced to supervised release for life.

McPhetridge admitted he engaged in online communications with a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl in Kentucky, according to the report. Between Sept. 30, 2007, and Oct. 20, 2007, McPhetridge engaged in several online chats with the alleged 13-year-old. The girl was actually an adult decoy who worked with Perverted Justice, which targets online sexual predators.

During the chats, McPhetridge engaged in sexually explicit discussions with the decoy and sent adult pornography, according to the report.

On Oct. 20, 2007, McPhetridge drove from Surgoinsville to Bowling Green. A search of McPhetridge’s vehicle after his arrest revealed a cell phone, KY Jelly, an electric razor, a Kodak Easy Share digital camera, scan disk memory card and directions to the house.

The Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

A man who was killed when the tanker truck he was driving on the William Natcher Parkway overturned around 4 a.m. Wednesday has been identified as David Briggs Sr., 72, of Old Hickory, Tenn., according to a Kentucky State Police report.

Briggs was driving south on the parkway when the truck made a sharp turn to the right, causing it to travel down an embankment, according to the report. The vehicle overturned and trapped Briggs inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy is pending. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, according to the report. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Arrest — Carmen S. Quinn, 35, 949 Bryant Way H4, was charged with third-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident at 11:51 p.m. Wednesday at 1043 Pedigo Way, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.

Quinn was involved in an injury accident and had walked away from the scene at U.S. 31-W By-Pass and Fairview Avenue, according to the report. When an officer attempted to handcuff Quinn, she headbutted the officer, chipping the officer’s front tooth.

Burglary — A handgun, a PlayStation 3, a laptop computer, an MP3 player and a cell phone valued at $2,250 were stolen between 5:30 a.m. and 7:10 p.m. from a residence in the 100 block of Hillridge Court, according to a city police report. There also was $300 in damage to a door at the residence.

Criminal mischief — A vehicle was dented, causing $1,000 in damage, around 1 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Raintree Drive, according to a city police report.

Sentence — Dominique Jamaal Todd, aka Kilo Escobar, 21, 369 Paddlewheel Drive, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Bowling Green to 11 years and three months in prison on multiple charges of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of crack cocaine and Ecstasy, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and threatening and intimidating a material witness.

Todd also received five years of supervised release after completing his sentence, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville.

He pleaded guilty July 23, acknowledging that on several occasions he possessed with the intent to distribute several hundred grams of crack and Ecstasy. Todd also pleaded guilty to directing two threatening phone calls to a witness in this case, according to the report.

Sentence — Bryon Ray Gibbs, aka Bud Gibbs, 22, 409 Vine Court, Lebanon, Tenn., was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Bowling Green to five years in prison on a bank robbery charge.

Gibbs also will have three years of supervised release, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville.

Gibbs pleaded guilty to robbing the U.S. Bank Branch at 3240 Louisville Road on Sept. 21, 2007. Gibbs left the bank with $11,933.25.

The case was investigated by the FBI.

Theft — A gray 1973 GMC Sierra valued at $1,500 was stolen between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of West 11th Avenue, according to a city police report. The vehicle had Kentucky license plate 6978 KM.

Theft — Two laptop computers, computer software and accessories, an electric shaver, glasses and checks valued at $2,370 were stolen between 6:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday from Hampton Inn at 233 Three Springs Road.
