POLICE NEWS: City police arrest man in connection with ID theft

Arrest — Agustin Rafael Garcia-Reyes, 27, 2035 Rockcreek Drive Apt. 5, was charged with theft of identity at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Industries at 610 Hope St., according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.
Garcia-Reyes was allegedly using the name, date of birth and Social Security number of a Colorado man to work at the business, according to the report.
The victim had been notified by the Internal Revenue Service that he owed $7,257 in back taxes, according to the report. Garcia-Reyes stated he bought his documents for $200 in Bowling Green three to four years ago.
Garcia-Reyes is in the Warren County Regional Jail on $10,000 bond.
Burglary — Two glass doors and a door frame were broken, causing $750 in damage at 440 Main at 440 Main Ave., according to a city police report. A partial box of blank gift certificates was also stolen.
Fraud — Some $1,032 in fraudulent withdrawals were made using a Bowling Green woman’s bank account Oct. 11 and Oct. 12 at unknown locations, according to a city police report.
Theft — A Bowling Green woman had $980 stolen from her in a scam in which a Florida man offered to by a desk she had listed on the WBKO Web page. The man sent a check for $1,020 when he was supposed to pay $120. She sent the overage of $980 back to the man and then found out his check bounced, according to a city police report.
Theft — Five gold necklaces valued at $5,000 were stolen between 7:20 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. Wednesday from a residence in the 1100 block of North Lee Drive, according to a city police report.
Theft — A bicycle valued at $600 was stolen between 11 p.m. Oct. 21 and 11 a.m. Oct. 22 in the 1900 block of Creason Street, according to a city police report.
Theft — A video camera valued at $800 was stolen between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 1:01 p.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Ridgeside Avenue, according to a city police report.
