BROWNSVILLE — Maurice Kelly Parsley, 83, of Sweeden died Sept. 26, 2008, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green.
The Edmonson County native was the former owner of Parsley Chevrolet and bailiff for the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department. He was a charter member of the Edmonson County Lions Club, first chairman of the Edmonson County Industrial Community, former board member of Brownsville Deposit Bank, former Brownsville city councilman and member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a son of the late Ralph Parsley and Annie Stephens Parsley. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Dennison and a grandson, Chris Parsley.
Funeral is at 1 p.m. Monday at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville chapel, with burial in Fairview Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Parsley of Sweeden; a son, Steve Parsley and his wife, Phyllis, of Brownsville; two daughters, Tammy Childress and her husband, Walt, and Stephanie Dennison, all of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Stephanie McCurdy and her husband, Chris, of Knoxville, Tenn., Kyla Houchins and her husband, Kip, of Chalybeate, Scott Parsley of Brownsville and Julia Howard and her husband, Wade, Derek Dennison and Emily Dennison, all of Bowling Green; three great-grandchildren, Christian Howard, McKenna Houchins and Garrett Houchins; and two nieces, Betty Houchin and her husband, Ed, of Brownsville and Evelyn Minton of Louisville.
