As construction continues and spaces are leased, the intersection of Campbell Lane and Nashville Road is blossoming with new business.
“To me, it’s the fastest growing area of Bowling Green,” said Tom Baker, managing director of Coldwell Banker Commercial Legacy. “As construction of Nashville Road has taken shape, a lot of people are getting to see what the new Nashville Road will look like.”

And the new road is attracting both consumers and businesses.
“There are almost 40,000 cars a day on Campbell Lane in front of Kroger,” he said. “When you see that volume of traffic, you’re going to see demand.”
Baker said he has leased space to five businesses that are slated to open their doors in the next few months.
Quiznos restaurant in Buckhead Square on Campbell Lane will open in the next 60 to 75 days, Baker said.
Across the street, Little Caesars will serve pizza in the old Blockbuster building at the end of October. And New World Finance Company will occupy the old Shenanigans building. It should open Oct. 1.
“People are realizing there are more places than Scottsville Road (to shop and locate a business),” Baker said. “It’s great for Bowling Green.”

A 55,000-square-foot commercial retail building is slated to go up next to Buckhead Square. A Goodwill store is expected to relocate to the new building.
And Navajo Taco Company, which recently reopened in Buckhead Square, is holding its grand opening ceremony today and giving away food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The business closed two years ago, but Bhavesh Parekh decided to lease the space and reopen the restaurant.
“I was walking by here and I saw a sign that said ‘for sale,’ ” he said. “And I said, ‘Let’s try it.’ ”
Parekh described the restaurant as a “Mexican Subway” with make-your-own tacos and burritos, as well as other foods.
The restaurant, which employs four workers, opened Friday, and it served 15 customers on opening day. Now it’s averaging about 40 customers each day.
“We’re growing each day,” he said. “Tomorrow will be busy.”
Parekh said he is confident his business will continue to grow as Buckhead Square generates more traffic.
“Our main concern is WKU; it’s really close,” he said. “And the area here is growing. There’s more stuff coming in.”
A few doors down from Navajo Taco, Precision Eye Care and Optical and Sheldon’s Express Pharmacy is preparing to open around the first or second week of October.
“The community has asked for years that we do it,” said Steve Sheldon, owner of Sheldon’s Express Pharmacy. “We’ve had a lot of requests to have a location on this side of town.”
Sheldon owns another pharmacy on Fairview Avenue. He decided to open a second Bowling Green business as an answer to customer demands and to give the Fairview location some breathing room.
The average drug store fills about 200 prescriptions a day. Sheldon’s fills more than 1,000 each day, he said.
Sheldon attends church with two optometrists – Robert Duvall and Darrell Tade – who were looking to branch out on their own. The businesses decided to partner, and Sheldon’s – which sits beside Precision Eye Care and Optical – shares a waiting area with the optometry center. The businesses sit in a combined 6,000-square-foot space.
“There’s a demand for a hometown touch,” he said. “There’s a demand for service on this side of town.”
Sheldon will employ 10 to 12 workers when the pharmacy opens, but will hire more over time.
Sheldon expects about 20 percent of his customers to switch to the new location, which sits in the middle of what seems to be a gathering ground for drug stores. Walgreens and Rite Aid neighbor Sheldon’s new pharmacy.
“There are a lot of drug stores here,” he said. “There are a lot of prescriptions being filled on this side of town.”
