The Kentucky Blues Society is ready to start accepting entrants for the 4 International Blues Challenge 2009 categories. The preliminary IBC event event will be Sunday, September 14th at WhaBah. The categories are: Band, Solo/Duo, Album, and the new Youth Showcase (everybody in the band in this new category must be under 21) email kyblues1@gmail.com if you have any questions. Ryan Stiles will be handling the IBC project this year. Ryan has been to Memphis, knows the ropes, and will be your guide to the largest blues event in the world.

The preliminary event on September 14th will be like an orientation to see how many are interested and to make sure that every entrant understands the IBC scoring procedure. The finals will be in October. Judging this year will be by current Kentucky Blues Society members. Memberships can be renewed online. Members of the Kentuckiana Blues Society will also be included as judges.

You can enter the Kentuckiana Blues Society’s competition by going to http://members.aye.net/~kbsblues/contest.htm which gives you 2 chances to win an IBC slot.

The International Blues Challenge is the largest gathering of the best blues musicians in the world. According to society president Kenny Lee “Everybody who has been rates it as a once in a lifetime experience. We are one of the fewer than 50 Blues Societies in the world to have qualified entrants in every category and we hope to repeat that success this year.”
