POLICE NEWS: Riding bike, man killed by vehicle

Wesley Denham, 39, of Chalybeate was killed early Tuesday when he was struck by a vehicle while he was riding a bicycle.

Denham was riding on Ky. 101 at about 8:43 a.m. about a mile and half south of Brownsville when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Jessie Vincent of Chalybeate, according to Deputy Ricky Sanders, accident reconstructionist for the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Chalybeate Volunteer Fire Department and Edmonson County Emergency Medical Services did all they could for Denham, Vincent said. Denham was pronounced dead at The Medical Center.

Vincent said she didn’t see Denham, according to Sanders. The accident remains under investigation.

Denham was wearing a bicycle helmet and a neon green shirt, Sanders said.

Arrest — Henry Hill, 23, of Glasgow was charged with five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, one count of first-degree criminal mischief and disregarding a stop sign after a pursuit through three counties ended in the 1700 block of McGregor Court in Bowling Green, according to Russellville Police Chief Barry Dill.

Hill was attending a block party in Russellville when police arrived in response to a disturbance call. Hill decided he was going to leave no matter what, and rammed several cars, including a police vehicle, Dill said.

Hill was pursued from Russellville to Franklin and then on U.S. 31-W to Bowling Green, Dill said.

The highest speed of the pursuit was 62 mph, Dill said. Hill was arrested after he was cornered on a dead-end street.

Hill is at the Logan County Jail on $25,000 bond.

Burglary — An Xbox 360 and two games valued at $380 were stolen between 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Wednesday from a residence in the 400 block of Columbia Way, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.

Criminal mischief — Two speakers and a receiver valued at $400 were stolen between Friday and Monday from a vehicle at News Broadcasting Co. at 804 College St., according to a city police report.

There was also a window broken on the vehicle causing $150 in damage, according to the report.

Criminal mischief — Two windows valued between $750 and $850 were broken between 8 a.m. Sunday and midnight Monday at a residence in the 1500 block of Nutwood Street, according to a city police report.

Fraud — There were $322 in fraudulent charges made using a Bowling Green woman’s credit card on July 14, according to a city police report.

Theft — A CD player, speakers, an amplifier and cash valued at $490 was stolen between 1 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Adams Street, according to a city police report.

There was also $600 in damage done to the vehicle during the theft.

Wanton endangerment — A Warren County man was taken to The Medical Center for evaluation after cutting his wrists in a suicide attempt and then driving at more than 100 mph on State Street.

The man nearly caused a crash with another vehicle and ran into guardrails and a telephone pole, according to city police report.
