William N. Aspley

HENRYVILLE, Ind. — William Neil Aspley, 83, of Louisville, Ky., died at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 25, 2008, at his residence.
The Bowling Green, Ky., native was born March 8, 1924. He was an owner of Aspley & Aspley Hardware in Bowling Green and then worked for Snelling & Snelling Employment Agency in Louisville. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946 in the South Pacific and was a radioman first class. He was a 1939 graduate of Bowling Green High School and was a member of the Quarterback Club, past president of the Senators Club and played varsity basketball and football. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Bowling Green and had an unsuccessful bid for mayor of Bowling Green in 1963. He was a son of the late Robert E. “Bob” Aspley and Estella Lillian Beckham Aspley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian Aspley; two brothers, Robert Charles Aspley and Elbridge Aspley; and a sister, Mary Estelle Cassady.
Graveside memorial service will be at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green this spring. Cremation was chosen. R.D. Pyke Funeral Service in Henryville is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his partner of 40 years, Roger Brown of Louisville; a daughter, Susan McMillen and her husband, James, of Ashland, Ohio; a son, William Neal Aspley Jr. and his wife, Gina, of Waukesha, Wis.; a sister, Alice Aspley Eames of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Sarah and Jed Aspley and Alex and Anna McMillen; and several friends, nieces and nephews.
