On Saturday, January 19, members of the Berea Weavers Guild will demonstrate a variety of weaving techniques from 10:30 n 3:30 at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.

The Berea Weavers Guild was started about nineteen years ago with five members with current membership at over thirty. The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Artspace on the College Square n the home of the Berea Arts Council. At 9:30 they enjoy coffee and catch up with the news – with the meeting beginning promptly at 10:00. Each gathering usually starts with a scheduled show and tell project and then moves on to an actual weaving lesson.

The Berea Weavers Guild is a fun organization where interesting people meet and form deep friendships. Both beginning and experienced men and women weavers are a part of the organization, which welcomes anyone interested in learning how to weave from any age group. Members of the group give and receive encouragement, support, inspiration, suggestions, and trouble-shooting solutions and the Berea Weaving Guild’s annual December and May potlucks are something to look forward to.

Members of this group demonstrating on January 19 will let visitors try their hands at weaving on small table-top looms, show visitors how a floor loom with different pedals for changing the weaving patterns works and demonstrate one of the simplest forms of weaving – card weaving!
