The 8th Annual Jambodians Bash will take place on December 28 at 5:00pm at the Brewing Company. Many old friends and some new ones will return to play music in support of the Sonrhea Foundation (http://sonrhea.org) which provides instruments to schools for use by youth who otherwise couldn’t afford to join the band or other school music programs.
Since the last bash Sonrhea has provided 70 violins, violas and cellos to Bowling Green grade schools, a baritone saxophone to Edmonson county school, a tuba and a trumpet to Drakes Creek Middle School, a piano to Cumberland Trace elementary and a marimba to Warren Central High School according to Director and founder Tony Lindsey. In fact, Lindsey reports that Sonrhea has been able to fulfill every request it received in 2007.

Lindsey said that due to the artist’s generous support in donating their performances, 100% of the money raised at each Jambodian Bash goes to the foundation which in turn keeps it within the area school system by limiting requests to those made by school band directors. Schools with requests can contact Lindsey on his cell phone at 270-799-1718.
This year’s lineup for the jam includes: Sam Bush, Tommy Womack, HiFi, Duckbutter, Von Guarde, Skip Bond and the Fugitives, Cootie Brown, Graham Hudspeth with Chris Carmichael and Skip Cleavinger, Rufus Huff, The Fender Benders, Noise Joi, Cheap Shot, Hard Knocks, Handed Seven.
These groups represent reunion shows by past area rockers as well as today’s mainstays and young new bands covering genres from Bluegrass to Hard Rock and Christian Rock.
Tony Lindsey will also introduce his new band Storm Bringer featuring Lindsey (lead vocals), Tom Tutino (lead guitar), Fenner Castner (drums), Eddy Vincent (keyboard) and Joe Parker (bass) at the event. The group will be performing their favorite cover songs for this show but plan to begin recording and presenting originals very soon.
Additional funds will be raised through a silent auction which will feature instruments and signed memorabilia. Two custom Sonrhea guitars and a a custom Lewis snare drum will be included. Some of the memorabilia to be featured was signed by Bon Jovi, Brooks and Dunn, Korn, Kenny Chestney and Genesis.
The Jambodians CD continues to be available both at http://sonrhea.org and http://cdbaby.com to raise funds for the organization and Lindsey says that the organization is contemplating a new compilation disk for 2008 possibly featuring the new generation of bands.

The Jambodians Bash evolved from private reunion jams each Christmas by musicians who grew up with Lindsey and his bands like HiFi and Tybarc. As their gettogethers grew they decided to make them public and give something back to an art that had enriched their lives. As David Dorris, Sonrhea board member and Jambodian music coordinator described, “It’s all about renewing acquaintances and it’s all for a good cause – the children and the arts.”
