Our jail is very close to a halfway house

The position the city has taken against LifeSkills selling property to a halfway house operation amazes me.
The mayor’s position that we should not have such an operation in the downtown area is poorly founded, and shows a lack of knowledge. She only needs to look out the back door of city hall at the Warren County Jail to see a “halfway house” type operation. Inmates are being released every morning to work outside the jail and return each evening without supervision. It too is only a block from a park and day care center. This operation is a part of the work release program and some are federal prisoners.

Their crimes are in the same category as prisoners described in your article and by Mayor Walker and Commissioner Nash.
While I am not necessarily in favor of a new halfway house or whatever they plan to call it, perhaps the mayor and the commissioners should learn about the other operation that is only one block away from downtown before taking offense to LifeSkills’ attempt to run its business.
