Fred Bartley

TOMPKINSVILLE — Fred Bartley, 89, of Tompkinsville died Oct. 25, 2007, at Monroe County Medical Center.
The Monroe County native was born Feb. 17, 1918. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Pleasant Hill Church of Christ. He married Jean McPherson Bartley on March 4, 1946.
He was a son of the late Elsie F. Bartley and Julia Strode Bartley. He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta Bartley Bryant and Lavonne Bryant; a brother, Jack Bartley; and two sisters, Versie Vanlear and Claris Starnes.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Strode Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Lawn. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Jean McPherson Bartley; five sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Paulette Bartley, Billy and Betty, Benny and Karen, Ricky and Carol and Byron and Kim, all of Tompkinsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Larry Hurt and Gay and Wayne Hammer, all of Tompkinsville; two brothers, Edward Bartley of Summer Shade and Rex Bartley of Glasgow; two sisters, Nelda Whitworth of Louisville and Edith Page of Tompkinsville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
