Gander Mountain is bringing a lot to the outdoors-loving people in Bowling Green.

The store, which has a soft opening under way, will have its grand opening next weekend. The grand opening will feature big name sportsmen providing demonstrations and tips.

Gander Mountain, located behind Greenwood High School, features 65,000 square feet of covered space and another 25,000 square feet of outdoor space for boats.

The high-end outdoor store features a wide selection of shotguns, rifles, pistols, bows, an indoor archery alley and a large selection of fishing equipment. It also will be selling a large array of footwear and clothing.

The store also features something this town needs desperately, a gunsmith shop. To our knowledge there isn’t any place in Bowling Green where one can take guns to be worked on, which makes Gander Mountain’s opening even more exciting.

There is also a need for a wider variety of outdoor stores in Bowling Green, considering the numerous hunters, fisherman, campers and outdoor enthusiasts in the area.

This new store will no doubt be a stopping point for tourists, given its location just off Interstate 65.

Gander Mountain’s arrival will bring jobs to our city, which will keep Bowling Green’s diversified economy moving forward.

Enhancing the opening of Gander Mountain is the opening of Camping World right next door. Camping World sells supplies for recreational vehicles. Its grand opening will be next Thursday through Saturday.

Gander Mountain is going to be a nice addition to our town.
