The Amplifier was established in 1995 with the mission of promoting the arts in south central Kentucky. The Amplifier online was also established in that year, becoming the first media website in the area and one of Kentucky’s earliest websites. The Amplifier was run as a home based business by Kim Mason publishing strictly local arts and entertainment content until May 2007.
In June 2007 Kim Mason joined the Daily News family in the online department bringing the Amplifier with her. The Daily News expanded the content to include arts and entertainment with a local flavor with Mason serving as the online Content Manager.

The website now features fresh content throughout the month and an emphasis on user interactivity. Using a process called “reverse-publishing” other departments pull from the site’s content to produce a full color print edition at the end of each month which is delivered to high traffic locations throughout the Bowling Green area.
