LEXINGTON – Arthur Lee Myles Jr., 80, died Sept. 19, 2007.
The Connersville, Ind., native was retired as vice president of Gulf and Western Industries, was a 1951 graduate of the University of Kentucky and a UK Fellow. He served in the Navy during World War II, where he was stationed in the Pacific. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church since 1958 and served as charter member and past president of Friendship Sunday School class. He was a Chancel Choir member since 1981, usher captain for 15 years, a member of Centenary Senior’s Group-SOCS, served on the administrative board and was past president of Methodist Men’s Group. He was a Lexington South Lions Club member since 1971, where he served as past president (1981) and received Most Valuable Member Award (1972-73; 1996-97; 2002-03). He also received the Melvin Jones International Fellow Award (1996), was distinguished as a Kentucky Colonel and was a 10-year member of Monday Club, Bellhouse Seniors’ Group and Seniors’ Kitchen Band. He was a past member of Lexington Jaycees, a 28-year member of the Civil War Roundtable and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was a son of the late Arthur Lee Myles Sr. and Christine Trunnell. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Myles; and daughter, Cathy Myles.
Funeral is at 10 a.m. EDT Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church Sanctuary, with entombment at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. EDT and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. EDT Friday at W.R. Milward Mortuary-Southland, 391 Southland Drive.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret Eileen Sears Myles; two sons, Joe Myles and his wife, Betty, of Bowling Green and Paul Myles and his wife, Monica, of Douglasville, Ga.; a daughter, Carol Jean Myles and her fiancé, Dan Watson, of Lexington; a sister, Anne Binford; a grandson, Clay Myles; two granddaughters, Amanda and Kaitlin Myles; and several nieces and nephews.
