A 17-year-old boy was injured Tuesday when his vehicle apparently crossed the center line and collided with a school bus.

Andrew T. Jackson of Bowling Green was taken to The Medical Center with minor injuries.

The accident occurred at 3:38 p.m. when Jackson’s Chevrolet Impala turned from Porter Pike onto Hunts Bend Road, according to a Warren County Sheriff’s Department report. Shortly after the turn, the two vehicles collided.

The bus driver and his five passengers were not injured, according to the report. Jackson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Case moved – The trial for five people charged in a 1987 rape and murder has been moved.

Special prosecutor Tim Coleman said Senior Judge Tom Lewis moved the trial, slated to begin Nov. 19, from Muhlenberg County to Warren County after discussions with prosecutors and defense attorneys.

&#8220I don’t think you could get a jury over there,” Coleman said Monday. &#8220It’s one of those things people have talked about for years.”

Corinna Mullen, 20, was brutally beaten to death and her nude body was found inside the trunk of her car on Oct. 2, 1987, in Central City. The case went unsolved after Mullen’s boyfriend, Jimmie Royce Springer Jr., was acquitted of her murder in 1988.

However, police found new information in the case and a grand jury indicted five people last year, including Springer.

Former Central City Police officer Billy F. Fields, 64; Jimmie D. Cramer, 38; and Jeffrey L. Boyd, 44, all of Central City, are charged with murder, kidnapping, rape and sodomy.

Angela K. Smith, 40, of Madisonville, Mullen’s former roommate, is charged with complicity to murder, rape and kidnapping.

Springer, 38, of Hopkinsville is charged with rape, sodomy and perjury.

Arrest – Whitney Lawrance Hayes, 19, 1625 Catherine Ave. Apt. A, was charged with second-degree assault at 2 a.m. today at her residence.

Hayes allegedly beat up her live-in boyfriend, Brent Hollis, after he had come home intoxicated. Hollis had a broken finger, cuts, scratches and bruises, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.

Hayes told police she was defending herself but had no visible injuries, according to the report.

She is in the Warren County Regional Jail on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

Arrest – Richard Todd Gotcher, 20, 2426 Thoroughbred Dr. No. 117, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse at 4:05 a.m. Saturday at his residence.

Gotcher is accused of touching a woman after she had told him not to, according to a police report. Gather admitted during questioning to touching the woman but stated she did not say anything because she was &#8220gone” and &#8220like passed out.”

He was released Saturday after posting a $5,000 bond.

Arrest – Chad Leon Lee, 23, 366 Moonlite Ave., was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment at 11:44 p.m. Tuesday at his residence.

Lee is accused of firing a gun into the air while he was involved in an altercation with a woman, according to a city police report. Witnesses told police he fired two shots, but Lee denied firing the gun.

He remains in jail without bond.

Burglary – Four rifles, a handgun and a five-gallon bucket filled with an unknown amount of change were stolen between 6 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Cove Drive, according to a city police report.

The air conditioning unit had been ripped from a window, according to the report. The five guns were valued at $2,500.

Criminal mischief – A hole was cut in a chain-link fence causing $300 in damage between 9 p.m. and 9:11 p.m. Friday in the 3200 block of Nashville Road, according to a city police report.

Theft – Two speakers and a car stereo were stolen between 10 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Cave Springs Avenue, according to a city police report.

The dashboard of the vehicle was damaged when the stereo was removed, according to the report. Total losses and damage were estimated at $1,090.

Theft – A blue 1990 Toyota Camry Wagon was stolen between 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 2700 block of Scottsville Road, according to a city police report.

The vehicle may have been unlocked and the keys were in the center console, according to the report. The vehicle has Kentucky license plate 94 DVV.

Theft – A digital camera, cell phone, purse wallet, $15, checks and personal identification were stolen from a vehicle between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 5000 block of Scottsville Road, according to a city police report.

A window was also damaged. Damage and losses were estimated at $556.

Unlawful imprisonment – A man assaulted a 27-year-old Bowling Green woman and would not allow her to leave her apartment at about 12:52 p.m. in the 2100 block of Robin Road, according to a city police report.

The man, a former boyfriend, locked the door when the woman’s landlord came to the apartment to check on a complaint, according to the report.
