Police Reports : BG teen says he was robbed at gunpoint

A 19-year-old Bowling Green man told police he was robbed at gunpoint by three men early today, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.

The man told police that the men came up to him at about 2 a.m. in the Tattle Tails parking lot at 1316 Old Louisville Road and placed a gun to his head, the report said. They took $177 from the man and fled in a maroon and silver Dodge truck.

A security person at the club said he observed an argument in the parking lot, but did not see any physical altercation, according to the report.

The Smiths Grove City Commission hired a new police officer today.

Walter Robert Smith, a retired FBI agent, will be sworn in as soon as the state verifies his certification, said Chief Johnny Vance.

Arrest – Jeffrey Len Tucker, 40, 308 Graham Dr. Apt. A., was charged with third-degree burglary at 11:52 a.m. Wednesday at the police department.

Tucker is accused of stealing $261 from the safe at Goodwill Industries at 1806 U.S. 31-W By-Pass, according to a city police report.

Tucker is in the Warren County Regional Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Arrest – Barbara Lynn Jenkins, 39, 2620 Yuma Drive, was charged with first-degree promoting contraband, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 3:28 a.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Center Street, according to a city police report.

Police said they found two crack pipes, a burned Brillo pad and plastic bags that contained cocaine residue, according to the report. More drug paraphernalia was found when she was searched at the jail, the report said.

Jenkins is being held on a $500 bond.

Arrest – Raymond Burch, 56, and Kathy Burch, 49, both of 544 Iroquois Drive, were each charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking in marijuana at 2:20 a.m. today at their home.

The pair were selling marijuana and methadone from the residence, according to Tommy Loving, director of the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force. The task force was assisted by city police, the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and Kentucky State Police in serving the warrant.

The Burches are each being held on $1,000 bond.

Burglary – A television and DVD/VCR recorder were stolen between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday from a home in the 400 block of Gary Avenue, according to a city police report. The window pane at the residence was broken, and losses and damage were estimated at $1,404.

Indictment – A federal grand jury in Bowling Green indicted Kermit Aber Garriques, 49, of 317 Powell Ave., Newburgh, N.Y. and Uriel Dennis Bell, who used the alias Leon Anthony Bell, 42, of 547 E. 168th St., Bronx, N.Y., on Wednesday on charges of possessing with the intent to distribute more than 1,400 pounds of marijuana.

It is alleged that on May 27, a Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement officer stopped a tractor-trailer on Interstate 65 near Bowling Green for a safety inspection. During the inspection, which was being operated by Garriques and occupied by Bell as a passenger, the officer found about 1405 pounds of marijuana in the trailer, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville.

A trained police dog picked up the scent of the drugs, which resulted in the seizure. The estimated street value is $2.8 million, according to the report.

Indictment – A federal grand jury in Bowling Green indicted Lloyd Brown Skillern, 48, of 1221 Riverside Benleo Road, on Wednesday on charges of possessing firearms while subject to a domestic violence or restraining order.

The indictment alleges that on March 5, Brown possessed 21 firearms at his residence while under an active DVO issued by the Warren Circuit Court, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville.

The Bowling Green Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation in partnership with the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force.

The same federal grand jury in Bowling Green indicted Tremayne Stewart, 28, 609 Glen Lily Road, on charges of possessing crack cocaine with the intent to distribute it.

The indictment alleges on Jan. 25, Stewart had more than 5 grams of crack cocaine in his possession as he was being searched at the jail, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville.

ATF conducted the investigation in partnership with city police.

Promotions – The Glasgow Police Department promoted two officers. Joey Crews was promoted to captain and Jason Morgan was promoted to sergeant.

Crews, an 18-year-veteran of the department, started his career as a dispatcher and was later hired as a patrol officer. He was promoted to sergeant in 1996 and in 1997 to lieutenant.

Crews was the first Glasgow officer to become certified in training newly hired officers. He was instrumental in writing polices and procedures and has been involved in many self-initiated community programs, according to the department.

Morgan is a five-year veteran of the department and served as the housing authority officer and as a less-than lethal weapons instructor for the past two years. Morgan is a member of the department’s critical emergency response team and now serves the team as assistant team leader.

Theft – A global positioning system, handbag, cell phone charger and three-way adapter, valued at $660, were stolen between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday from a vehicle in the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue, according to a city police report.
