Police News : Man named in Hart County indictment alleging murder

A Munfordville man was indicted in connection with the December murder of Brandy Waffird, whose body was found Christmas Day.
James Hodge, 45, 583 Rowletts Cave Springs Road, was named in an indictment July 3 by a Hart County grand jury, alleging murder and tampering with physical evidence, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green.
Hodges has been in the Hart County Jail since Dec. 27. He had already been charged with first-degree sodomy, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree persistent felony offender.
Hodge lived next door to Waffird’s family. Her body was found less than 400 yards from her family’s home.
Hodge was the last known person to have seen Waffird alive and state police confiscated a trailer from the property as part of the investigation.
He remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
Burglary – Curtains valued at $750 were stolen from an unoccupied house in the 1600 block of Walden Road between 5 p.m. July 2 and 9:30 a.m. Friday, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.
Burglary – A plasma television, cell phone, a diamond ring, $250, a twin bed and box springs, a DVD player and 10 DVD movies, together valued at $3,045, were stolen between June 14 and 5 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Smallhouse Road, according to a city police report.
Burglary – For the second time in a week the Sigma Chi fraternity house at 1215 College St. was broken into, sometime between 6 p.m. Sunday and noon Monday, according to a city police report.
A television, two sectional couches, a computer monitor, 14 picture composites along with doors, walls and windows were vandalized, according to the report. Damage and losses were estimated to be $50,750.
Criminal mischief – Paint was found on the wall and floor of a rental home in the 1400 block of Kenton Street between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a city police report. Damage was estimated at $800.
Criminal mischief – The driver’s side window of a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Catherine Way was broken between 5 p.m. Friday and 8:10 a.m. Saturday, according to a city police report. Damage was estimated to be $500.
Criminal mischief – Windows were broken on three vehicles in the 1400 block of Nutwood Street about 12:30 a.m. Monday according to a city police report. Damage was estimated to be $600.
Theft – A purse, cell phone, wallet, bracelet, driver’s license, credit cards and cash were stolen between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 12:30 a.m. Saturday from a vehicle at the Ramada Inn, 4767 Scottsville Road. The passenger window of the vehicle was also broken. Total losses and damage were estimated to be $835.
Another vehicle at that location was also broken into between 10 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. There was cash, a purse, driver’s license and keys taken from the vehicle and a window had also been broken. Total losses and damage were estimated to be $690.
Theft – Two bicycles, valued together at $300, were stolen from a back porch in the 700 block of Gordon Avenue between 2:50 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Friday, according to a city police report.
Theft – A CD player valued at $300 was stolen from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Collegeview Drive on Thursday, according to a city police report.
Theft – A 2000 Buick Regal and $100 was stolen between 5 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. July 2 from the 1500 block of Bryant Way, according to a city police report.
The vehicle has Kentucky license plate 070 AXY and was valued at $3,000, according to the report.
