The Brickyard Cafe, 1026 Chestnut St., follow-up required because there was no evidence of sanitizer in spray bottles at hostess stand; pesticide was stored in crate with cleaning containers (hostess stand); strainer with ice was placed in bar handsink; and knife in clean holding rack had salad particles on the blade; score 78. Passed immediate follow-up inspection; score 92.
Pizza Hut, 1200 C Smallhouse Road, follow-up required because utensil container and contents (at end of pizza oven) were not clean or sanitized; and three pizza ladles were not clean or sanitized; score 90. Passed immediate follow-up inspection; score 94.
Park Place Recovery, 822 Wood Way, passed; score 100.
Papa John’s Pizza, 1922 Russellville Road, follow-up required because there was no sanitizer in the wiping cloth solution; and disinfectant spray was stored on a shelf beside napkins and a sprayer; score 88. Passed immediate follow-up inspection; score 97.

Subway, 2738 Scottsville Road, follow-up required because meatballs, roast beef, chicken teriyaki were at improper temperatures; utensil container was not clean or sanitized; and cleaning chemicals were stored above and beside the simple service food containers; score 81. Courtyard by Marriott, 1010 Wilkinson Trace, follow-up required because knife rack and three knives were not clean or sanitized; utensil drawers and its contents were not clean or sanitized; shelf above the three-compartment sink and the utensils touching it were not clean or sanitized; and waffle mix serving containers, pans silverware container and contents were not clean or sanitized; score 93. Passed immediate follow-up inspection; score 100.
China Buffet, 2945 Scottsville Road, follow-up required because bleach water concentration was too strong; there was a small dead rodent on the floor of the utility room, along with mouse droppings; the back door with the screen did not close properly; the sanitizer in the three-compartment sink was less than 50 ppm chlorine; table can opener was not clean or sanitized; egg rolls on food bar, vegetable egg foo young, shrimp balls, fried chicken wing and fried rice were at improper temperatures; and food bar’s heat lamps did not maintain products at 140 degrees or above; score 75. Follow-up inspection: another follow-up required because yellow pudding and cantaloupe held on dessert bar were at improper temperatures; score 91. Passed immediate follow-up inspection; score 96.
Red Lobster, 2525 Scottsville Road, follow-up required because silverware was not clean or sanitized in gray plastic divided container; two plates were not clean or sanitized; employee (gloved) handled soiled utensils, dipped gloved hands into sanitizer; score 80. Passed follow-up inspection; score 100.
– Restaurants are inspected at least once every six months by Barren River District Health Department inspectors who use a 44-item checklist to evaluate a restaurant’s cleanliness, food handling and storage.
Follow-up inspections are done, if needed.
A restaurant has 10 days to correct its problem if it scores below an 85 or is cited for a critical violation.
