A Bowling Green man was indicted Wednesday on charges he raped and sexually abused a girl under the age of 12.

Miguel Hernandez-Gomez, 29, 403D Topmiller Ave., is charged with first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, according to the indictment.

Allegations were made that a family friend had been abusing a young girl, said Chris Cohron, commonwealth’s attorney for Warren County.

Kentucky State Police investigated the case and determined there was enough information to bring charges, he said, though few other details can be given out due to the nature of the case.

The rape and abuse is alleged to have occurred between August 2005 and December 2006. Gomez is being held at the Warren County Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
