A Western Kentucky University student was found dead Tuesday in a campus dormitory.

Jaron M. Kormelink, 19, of Clarksville, Tenn., was found in his Keen Hall room.

The body was discovered by a facilities management employee who contacted the WKU Police Department at 1:55 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates no evidence of foul play or the use of a weapon.

Bob Edwards, assistant vice president for University Relations, confirmed Kormelink was found hanging.

The time of death will be determined by an autopsy, Edwards said.

Kormelink’s body was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Louisville, where an autopsy will be performed and the official cause of death will be determined, according to a press release issued from the university.

Kormelink had enrolled at Western in January.

Before that, he attended the University of Tennessee during the fall 2005 semester, Edwards said.

Kormelink lived alone, Edwards said.

Edwards said from what he had gathered, Kormelink kept to himself.

However, he said officials don’t know much about his personal life.
