PHILLIP AARON - Columbia physician

Columbia physician Dr. Phillip Aaron is a different kind of doctor in the minds of many Adair, Taylor, Green, and Russell County residents.

For 25 years he has made house calls to patients too sick to come in to see him.

In 2006, Aaron made 337 such after hours home visits. His caring and interest in the welfare of people in his community goes past the above and beyond approach to taking care of the sick.

Aaron has worked hard to improve the long-term situations of health care and education in Adair County.

He was the chairman in 1980 of the committee that got a hospital bond issue passed when every other similar proposal in the state failed that year.

Other health issues Aaron has been involved with include the Adair County AIDS Prevention Program, as well as an effort to get all young women vaccinated against cervical cancer.

Both of these programs are controversial issues, but impact the general public, and are important causes to Aaron.

His work in both areas stems from his specialty of practice, which he describes as “preventive medicine.”

Aaron also has proven that the young people of Adair County are very important to him, through the time and effort he has spent seeking to improve their inadequate school facilities.
