A Barren County man faces numerous charges after being accused of threatening his wife at gunpoint then leading law enforcement officers on a chase early Sunday.

James Phillip Ballard, 26, 4173 Peters Creek Road, Austin, is charged with 17 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing and evading police, reckless driving, disregarding a stop sign, two counts of criminal mischief and operating a motor vehicle with no license, according to reports from the Bowling Green Police Department and Barren County Sheriff’s Department.

Ballard is accused of pulling a gun on his wife Sunday at Tidballs at 522 Morris Alley, according to a city police report.

The two argued and Ballard pulled a 44-magnum gun and told his wife, 26-year-old Anndora Jane Wyatt, to get in the vehicle or he would shoot her between the eyes, she told police.

In Barren County, the Glasgow Police Department attempted to pull over the vehicle Ballard was driving on East Main Street, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Department report.

Kentucky State Police and sheriff’s deputies tried to block Ballard, but he drove off the road around officers, according to the sheriff’s department report. Ballard swerved his vehicle from one side of the road to the other to keep law enforcement from getting around him, the report said.

Ballard eventually drove through a metal gate and fled on foot, according to the sheriff’s department report. He was found at about 11 a.m. Sunday at an address on Burkesville Road.

Ballard is in the Barren County Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.

Arrest – Ashley Ann Voyles, 22, 177 E. Wind Place, was charged with theft over $300 on Saturday at her residence.

She is accused of stealing $380 from the cash register at Tender Touch Car Wash at 2270 Scottsville Road, according to a city police report.

Voyles is in the Warren County Regional Jail on a $2,500 cash bond.

Arrest – Anthony David Hodge Jr., 19, 1155 Crewdson Drive No. A, was charged with trafficking in marijuana less than eight ounces and first-degree possession of a controlled substance Saturday in the 800 block of Kentucky Street.

City police said they pulled Hodge over for having a vehicle license plate that wasn’t illuminated. Police found three grams of cocaine, 69 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, rolling papers, a marijuana grinder and $282.75 inside the vehicle, according to a city police report.

Hodge is in jail on a $2,500 bond.

Arrest – William Junior Cherry, 38, 280 Bon Aire, was charged with first-degree robbery Sunday at his residence.

Police responded to a fight in the 600 block of U.S. 31-W By-Pass. Mark Stephens, age and address unavailable, reported that Cherry hit him and took his car keys, according to a city police report. Cherry admitted to assaulting Stephens but denied taking his keys, the report said. Cherry is in jail awaiting a bond hearing.

Assault – City police are investigating a stabbing reported by The Medical Center personnel Saturday.

Geneva Denise Bessette, 20, of Smiths Grove had a stab wound in her abdomen from an incident either late Friday or early Saturday while in the 1300 block of Clay Street, according to a city police report. Bessette and another woman identified the alleged attacker, but no arrests have been made. Bessette was released from the hospital.

Assault – Daryl Williams, 35, of Bowling Green suffered a cracked bone in his knee after a woman known to him only by her first name ran over his legs with her car between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Old Morgantown Road.

No charges have been filed.

Wanton endangerment – Two children were cut by flying glass after a man punched the window of the car in which they were seated Saturday.

The man was arguing with a woman beside the vehicle parked in the 400 block of Thames Way, according to a city police report. Another woman at the scene stepped between the two, and the man smashed the vehicle’s driver’s side window, the report said. The glass hit the children, causing small cuts.

Police said when they arrived on the scene, the man was gone. He hasn’t been charged.
