Police news: Mother, son arrested for filing false police report

A mother and son have been arrested after falsely reporting an incident.
Bowling green police responded to a complaint of a robbery on Scottsville Road. The officers located the victims, Deborah Peery Leech, 54, and her son, Lynn Austin Leech, 26, both of Mayfield, and the alleged suspects at Lovers Lane and Fairview Avenue.

Leech and her son told police they were counting their money prior to entering the mall when two black males approached them, demanding the money they were counting. Both she and her son stated the two black males said they had a gun, but neither she nor her son saw it.
All parties went to police headquarters to speak with detectives, where both Leech and her son admitted there was no robbery.
The two told detectives they were to meet a Mr. Fox to purchase 10 pounds of marijuana for $7,500.
The money was seized, and the parties will be charged with conspiracy to traffic marijuana at a later time.
Cited – Joey Martin, 41, was cited to court Saturday for driving on a suspended license while under the influence of alcohol.
Martin was taken to Greenview Hospital for injuries sustained in the accident. The suspect told the hospital staff he hit a tree, according to a Kentucky State Police accident investigation report.

Burglary – 200 pounds of copper, Chevy Lumina wheels and aluminum wheels, valued at $675, were stolen from R.E. Harps & Sons Recycling between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday on Power Street, according to a Bowling Green Police report.
Arrest – Rodolfo Rodriguez, 32, of Glasgow was arrested on Feb. 7 for driving under the influence of alcohol without a license. According to the city police report, Rodriguez was under the influence of alcohol and unsteady on his feet.
Police responded to the scene at Campbell Lane and Smallhouse Road to find very severe damage to the victim’s 2001 Ford Mustang. The victim was taken to The Medical Center by ambulance because he was bleeding from the head.
Rodriguez was not charged with assault. The case will be presented to a grand jury, according to the police report.
