Western Kentucky University alumna Kate Miller, who appeared on NBC’s “Deal or No Deal” Monday and Wednesday with mascot Big Red, has big plans for the $109,000 she won on the show – she’s leaving for a weekend trip to New York, where her first purchase will be a purse.
Miller, a 2003 graduate, told the Evansville (Ind.) Courier & Press that, although she’s an “admitted shop-a-holic,” some of her winnings are earmarked for Habitat for Humanity, her church and her alma mater. At a Wednesday night viewing party in Evansville, Big Red collected additional donations for Habitat for Humanity.
During the game show, which aired Monday and concluded Wednesday, Miller turned down offers of $82,000 and $68,000 from the show’s “banker.” She then took “sold” her case for $109,000 – a case that turned out to have $75 in it.
“When we moved into six figures, I was out of there,” she told the paper. “When he said that, no matter what it was, $100,000 or above, I was out of there. I was ready to deal.”
