James Hodges, 44, 583 Rowletts Cave Springs Road, has been charged with the first-degree sodomy of Waffird, though details of how that charge came about are not being released.

Hodges and Waffird did have a prior relationship, said Trooper Todd Holder, public affairs officer for Kentucky State Police

&#8220Hodges is the last known person to be seen with the victim,” Holder said.

Waffird’s mother told the sheriff’s department when she called Sunday that her daughter had been missing for two days, according to state police. Once she was found, the Hart County Coroner’s Office requested the KSP’s assistance.

The search began around noon Monday and Waffird’s body was found within 31/2 hours, Holder said.

Waffird was taken to Louisville on Tuesday for an autopsy, and preliminary results indicate foul play was involved, according to state police.

&#8220We’re not releasing a preliminary cause of death,” Holder said.

Additional investigation of the case led to a warrant being obtained against Hodges, according to state police.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released at this time, Holder said.
