Elaine Walker earns bronze level award

Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker completed requirements for the bronze level award in the Public Officials Essential Skills Institute.

Katie Schaller, assistant city manager, received the Silver Level award in the POESI.

The awards were presented Oct. 4 at the 77th annual Kentucky League of Cities Convention and Expo in Lexington.

Walker was also selected as a member of the KLC Executive Board.

More than 800 officials, legislators and others represented their hometowns at the event, which provides elected and appointed officials training and networking opportunities.

City, county having Tech Day on Nov. 26

Bowling Green-Warren County Tech Day is from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center at Western Kentucky University’s South Campus.

The event is open to the public.

The Warren County Community LeadershipTeam, presented by ConnectKentucky, meets in room 110.

At 2 p.m., Technology in Education presented by WKU, Apple Computer Inc. and Warren County Schools is in room 138.

At 3 p.m., a podcasting seminar presented by Apple Computer Inc. and The Place is in room 138.

At 4:30 p.m., Wireless Broadband for Public Safety presented by ConnectKentucky and the City of Bowling Green, is in room 138.

Clemons named manager at new store

Wayne Clemons was named store manager at the Russellville Tractor Supply Co. store, according to district manager Jerry Moore.

Clemons joined Tractor Supply Co. as an assistant manager in Glasgow in September 2005. Before joining Tractor Supply Co., he spent nine years with Southern States and a year with Pennington Seed.

Clemons earned a agricultural degree from Berea College.

In his new position, Clemons will oversee all store operations, including receiving, inventory control and merchandising, as well as customer relations and team member relations.

The new Russellville Tractor Supply Co. store is at 1150 W. Ninth St. and opens for business in mid-November.

Tractor Supply Co., listed on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange as TSCO, operates more than 641 stores in 37 states.

The company is headquartered in Brentwood, Tenn.

Upcoming ribbon ceremonies are set

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has a ribbon cutting for the City of Bowling Green and Warren County Government along with Operation P.R.I.D.E. at 401 Kentucky St., the L & N Depot, at 10 a.m. Thursday

The event will unveil the updated welcome signs set to be installed at the Bowling Green corridors.

A ribbon cutting for J R Wade State Farm Insurance is at noon Friday at 1240 US 31-W By-Pass for the company’s grand opening.

Integra hires two new loan originators

Integra Bank hired Hilda Blackburn and Kristen Peterson, who will work as a mortgage loan originators.

Blackburn has been in the mortgage business for 25 years and was most recently employed by New State Mortgage.

Peterson is a lifelong resident of Bowling Green and a graduate of Western Kentucky University. She was previously employed by Diversified Mortgage.

Both Blackburn and Peterson will service the Bowling Green community.

Edmonson Chamber starts ethic program

The Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce is launching the Worth Ethic Seal program at Edmonson County High School.

The initiative began Friday at the high school, where an assembly of juniors and seniors were introduced to the program, the curriculum and available scholarship through the program.

Cancer society benefit is today at Dillard’s

Dillard’s Hair and Nail Salon is offering $10 haircuts, with all proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.

They also will be selling $1 raffle tickets for an Aveda gift set.
