Gov. Ernie Fletcher and Economic Development Commissioner John McCarty were in Hart County on Wednesday to celebrate the grand opening of T. Marzetti Company new manufacturing facility and the company’s announcement it would create more jobs.
Adjacent to the new 220,000 square-foot salad-dressing making facility will be one for Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls, creating 298 new jobs and investing $35 million, according to a news release from Fletcher’s office.
The addition would bring T. Marzetti Company’s employment in the county to 550.
Fletcher said the announcement “speaks volumes about the workers and business climate in the community and state.”
T. Marzetti announced its initial location to Horse Cave in 2003, making a $41 million investment and providing 257 new jobs.
Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls, a manufacturer of yeast rolls and other bread products, will construct a new 105,000 square-foot adjacent facility expected to be operational by summer 2007.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls, Inc. for tax benefits up to $4 million under the Kentucky Industrial Development Act, an incentive program for new and expanding manufacturing firms.
Additionally, the company received approval for up to $606,000 under the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act to recoup Kentucky sales and use tax paid for construction materials and building fixtures.
