Mark Franklin Steele, 88, of Franklin, Tenn., formerly of Bowling Green, died June 17, 2006 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn.

The Huntington, Ind., native was a retired salesman for Central Soya and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green. He served in the Army in the First Armored Division in North Africa and Italy, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with a &#8220V” for Valor. He was a son of the late Edwin Harl Steele and Lulu Pashong Steele, and husband of the late Alma Rose Steele.

Funeral is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Thomas D. Steele of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Jeanne Ann Preston and her husband, L.T., of Franklin, Tenn.; two brothers, Edwin E. Steele of Red Lands, Calif., and Fred D. Steele of Kokomo, Ind.; three sisters, Betty Hauck of Goshen, Ind., Eilicia Ludwig of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Joyce Holzinger of Roanoke, Ind.; three grandchildren, Victoria Preston Watson, Andrea Michelle Steele and Michael Thomas Steele; and several nieces and nephews.
