Man robs BB&T bank branch at gunpoint

The BB&T Bank branch at 2945 Scottsville Road was robbed at 11:10 a.m. Friday.
A man handed a teller a note saying he had a gun and demanding $5, $10 and $20 bills, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report. The note said the clerk had 30 seconds to get money.
After receiving an undetermined amount of cash, he left the scene on foot heading toward the rear of the shopping center, according to police.
The robber was described as a 40- to 50-year-old white male, about 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 290 pounds. He was wearing a blue jacket, green shirt and hat and brown pants, according to a report.
A man entered the residence of a 47-year-old Bowling Green woman and stole her purse at gunpoint at 9:14 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Hickory Street.
The woman said she was standing in her kitchen with the front door of the apartment open, according to a city police report. The man pointed a handgun at her, took her purse and fled.
A trained police dog was unsuccessful in tracking the suspect, according to the report.
The man was described as a 17- to 20-year-old black male, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall weighing 150 pounds with a shaved head.
He was wearing a black Bowling Green High School hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Arrest – Timothy Jordan White, 20, of Smiths Grove was charged with trafficking marijuana less than eight ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, and possession of alcohol by a minor Sunday in the 800 block of U.S. 31-W By-Pass.
The vehicle White was in was being checked regarding a robbery. He consented to a search of the vehicle and police found marijuana, four Xanax pills, a burnt marijuana cigarette and beer, according to a city police report.
Crime of the Week – Bowling Green police are investigating thefts at a local construction site.
On three occasions in the past three weeks thieves have stolen copper tubing from apartment buildings under construction at Chandler Park Apartments on Chandler Drive off Cave Mill Road. The thieves are tearing out the walls and insulation and removing the copper. Authorities believe the stolen copper is being sold for recycling. The total loss in these incidents is over $17,000.

Criminal mischief – The driver’s side door of a vehicle was scratched between 6:15 p.m. Friday and 4:45 a.m. Saturday in the 3200 block of Spring Hollow Road.
The vehicle was parked in front of a residence and similar damage to the vehicle was recently reported, according to a city police report. The damage is estimated at $500.
Theft – A 1998 Ford Thunderbird valued at $1,000 was stolen between noon Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday from the 900 block of Lovers Lane, according to a city police report.
Theft – A 1976 Pontiac Bonnieville valued at $5,000 was stolen Wednesday between midnight and 11:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Bryant Way, according to a city police report.
Theft – A compact disc player and amplifier were stolen from a vehicle at 12:52 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Eastwood Avenue, according to a city police report.
The owner heard his car door close and saw a person running from the vehicle, according to a report. The stolen items are valued at $550.
