Margie Elizabeth Merideth Raymer, 95, died at 1:33 p.m. May 8, 2006, at Greenview Regional Hospital.

The Warren County native was a secretary for the City-County Planning Commission and the zoning administrator until her retirement at age 75. She worked as secretary to Irwin Houchens prior to her employment with the planning commission. She was a graduate of Bowling Green Business University and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a daughter of the late S.J. Merideth and Mary William Merideth.

Mrs. Raymer was always generous to those in need. She was well read, and knew the history of Bowling Green on a personal basis. She was quick to be humorous, as her friend, the late Judge Basil Griffin, could attest. She had a personal interest and love for the welfare of her family. Her grandchildren would sit at her feet as she read and told them stories. Her two children were dependent of her wisdom and love. She will be remembered and missed by her family, and all who knew her.

Funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery No. 1. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Larry Raymer and his wife, Frances, of Bowling Green; a daughter, Carlyse Barber of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Eric Raymer and Pam Raymer, both of Bowling Green; two stepgrandchildren, Kent McElroy and Donna Angle, both of Bowling Green; four great-grandchildren, Shannon, Abby, Shane and Madison; and five great-stepgrandchildren, Dylan, Kate, Eli, Thomas and Aaron.
