TOMPKINSVILLE – Bessie Jane Strode Walker, 93, of Glasgow died at 6:39 p.m. May 7, 2006, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
The Monroe County native was a homemaker. She was a daughter of the late Arthur J. Strode and Elvie Brady Strode and the wife of the late Fonis C. Walker. She was preceded in death by two sons, Wendell and Jerry Walker; two daughters, Nellie and Chloe Walker; three sisters, Virginia and Bonnie Strode and Jewel Wood; and seven brothers, Willie, Roy, Floyd, Earl, James, Tommy and Doyle Strode.
Funeral was today at Strode Funeral Home, with burial in Brown Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Donald Walker of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Michael Pearce of Mulberry, Kan., Michelle Pryor of Arma, Kan., Lisa Robbins of Rolla, Mo., and Bryan Walker of Pittsburg, Kan.; two brothers, Joe Strode of Adolphus and Luther Strode of Edmonton; two sisters, Ina Botts of Tompkinsville and Jula Mesker of Glasgow; and seven great-grandchildren.
