Dr. Donald C. Butler is a professional educator whose life’s work has gone far beyond that of a typical educator in terms of the number of programs he has helped create and the number of people whose lives he has touched.
Now CEO of Community Action of Southern Kentucky, Inc., Dr. Butler took the organization from an agency serving a few hundred people, to one with a budget an assets of $15 million and a staff of 300, and serves 10 counties in south central Kentucky. He authored or co-authored grant applications that helped initiate various Community Action programs, including Family Preservation, Public Transit, Welfare to Work, Even Start, Child Care, Senior Centers and AmeriCorps.
Dr. Butler has been a coach for Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Youth Baseball, active in Babe Ruth Baseball League, Bowling Green Little League Baseball, and Regional Special Olympics. He also served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Community Education, Warren County Primary Care Center, Barren River Area Development District, Barren River Area Workforce Investment and more.
Dr. Butler’s public service and professional impact in this area is enormous.
