Man charged in connection to string of vandalism incidents

A Bowling Green man was charged Sunday in connection to a series of vending machine break-ins.

Wayne Crawford, 38, 2637 Nashville Road, was charged with one count of first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree criminal trespassing.

Additional charges may be pending, according to Bowling Green Police Department Officer Jerry Corbitt, after the case is presented to a Warren County grand jury.

A witness saw a man using a crowbar Sunday to break into a machine at Houchens Market, 3170 Louisville Road, according to city police.

The man fled in a blue truck before officers arrived. Damage was estimated at $1,000. The employee recorded the license plate, which led police to Crawford, according to the report.

Two soda machines were damaged between 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at E.W. James and Sons, 1640 Scottsville Road, according to a report.

There was $17 taken from the machines, in addition to the $2,000 in damage, according to a report.

Another vending machine was vandalized between 5 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Center Street. Twenty dollars was taken and damage was estimated at $1,000, according to the report.

The vending machines at Ken’s Tires were damaged between 5 p.m. Saturday and 8:15 a.m. Sunday. There was $1,000 of damage to the machine, according to a report.

Crawford has a preliminary hearing set for 1:30 p.m. today in Warren County District Court.

Accident – Charlotte D. Kersey, 69, of Bowling Green was injured in a traffic accident Sunday at Scottsville Road and Campbell Lane.

Kersey’s Buick Skylark collided with a vehicle driven by Meredith Fane, 16, of Bowling Green when Fane turned from Campbell Lane onto Scottsville Road. Kersey was traveling through the intersection from Lovers Lane onto Campbell Lane. Both vehicles had a green light, according to a city police report.

Kersey is in good condition at Greenview Regional Hospital.

Arrest – Three people were arrested Tuesday in Bonnieville as part of a drug investigation.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Department, Munfordville Police Department and Kentucky Probation and Parole found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at 4142 N. Dixie Hwy.

Marvin Ray Bryant, 39, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia (second offense) and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Geneva L. Bryant, 43, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia (second offense.)

Brandon F. Bryant, 20, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia (first offense).

Brandon and Geneva Bryant are in Hart County Regional Jail, each under a $25,000 cash bond, and Ray is under a $50,000 cash bond.

Burglary – A meat slicing machine and meat grinder, valued at $1,000, were taken between 5 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday from a storage building at Fito’s Taqueriay Carnjceria, 1143 Clay St., according to city police.

Criminal mischief – Two people told police Wednesday a man kicked a car, damaging the door and breaking a window, in the 1300 block of Blue Lake Way, according to a city police report.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $550.

Criminal mischief – An apartment was damaged between noon Saturday and noon Monday in the 2600 block of Chandler Lane.

The apartment was under construction when someone broke the windows and damaged a shower and bathtub, according to city police. Damage is estimated at $1,400.

Crime of the week – Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward in connection with a recent trailer theft.

The Adair County Sheriff’s Department is trying to find a 24-foot flatbed, dove tail, gooseneck trailer believed to have been taken sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight March 14 from a lot across from Day and Day Milling Co. on Ky. 55 North.

The thief or thieves may have been traveling north on Ky. 55 in an older model two-tone, light-colored pickup truck.

Dangerous animal – Police are seeking a summons against the owner of a pit bull that lives at 799 Brandy Circle.

The animal attacked a resident’s dog at 775 Brandy Circle on March 22, according to city police.

Officer Gordon Turner used a Taser on the dog March 13 to prevent it from attacking him, according to the report.

Fraud – A Bowling Green resident told police someone stole her wallet containing cash and credit cards. Later, $511 in fraudulent charges were made, according to city police.

Robbery – A man told police he was robbed at knifepoint on his front porch Monday in the 1200 block of Kentucky Street.

The resident’s medication and $50 were taken, according to city police. The robber hit the resident in the face and fled toward Adams Street, according to city police.
