HORSE CAVE – Joan Rutherford Martin, 68, of Horse Cave died at 9:46 a.m. Feb. 22, 2006, at her home.
The Barren County native was a loving caregiver, mother, grandmother, a retired waitress and a member of Cedar Cliff Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late John Wesley Rutherford and Lola Frances Compton Rutherford and the wife of the late Cecil Thomas “Tommy” Martin. She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. and Leland Rutherford; and five sisters, Gertrude Whitley, Blanche Vasso, Becky Watson, Mildred Vosburg and Ferona Mae Carschtson
Memorial service is to be announced at a later date. There is no visitation. The family chose cremation. Winn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Keith Blaine Martin of Boston, Johnny Earl Martin and Cass Gordon Martin, both of Horse Cave, Celena Martin Gibbons of Smiths Grove and Sonia Martin Edwards of Edmonton; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Rutherford of Indianapolis and Jerald Dean “Red” Rutherford of Cave City; a sister, Lounell Vosburg of Dardenelle, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
