Matt Logic and Dan Mosier first met in 1981 as roommates and members of the Western Kentucky baseball team.

Now their paths have crossed again, this time on the Bowling Green High School baseball diamond.

Logic was named the Purples’ head coach this morning, replacing David Nole, who stepped down earlier this fall. Mosier joins Logic as an assistant coach for Bowling Green.

This is Logic’s third tenure as BGHS head coach. Logic first coach the Purples from 1991 to 1997 and helped guide Bowling Green to the Final Four in 1992 and a state championship in 1995.

Logic returned for a one-year stint in 2000 and was an assistant coach under Nole last season.

&#8220It’s going to be very interesting,” Logic said. &#8220It helped having been there last year. We’ll definitely change a few things up. I wish we could start tomorrow … but Feb. 15 will come early enough.”

Logic inherits a team that went 5-16 with one of the youngest rosters in the area.

&#8220We were extremely young maturity-wise and physical-wise,” Logic said. &#8220A lot of kids that have played football have matured physically. Hopefully, they have matured mentally as well.”

Mosier joins Logic after 16 years as an assistant at Western Kentucky under former head coach Joel Murrie.

Mosier brings high school experience, as well. He went 75-27 in five seasons and won two district championships as head coach at Oldham County.

Earlier this year, Mosier took a teaching job at Bowling Green after Murrie retired at WKU.

&#8220It just all fell into place,” Logic said. &#8220I am very much looking forward to working with Dan and using his expertise at the college level. Being in the recruiting business, obviously he has been around the high school game as well.”

Rounding out the Purples coaching staff are Weston Vernon, who served as an assistant last season, and Nate Murrie.

Senior pitcher Jack Snodgrass said the players are eager to play for Logic and his staff.

&#8220It means a lot to us,” Snodgrass said. &#8220Logic is like a legend around here. We are looking for a fresh start and hoping to win district and region and so on.”
