Carmen Joseph Marateo, 80, of Bowling Green died at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28, 2005, at a Bowling Green nursing home.
The Philadelphia native was a manager for Subway Elevated System for Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority and a Catholic. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and a World War II Army veteran. While in the service, he was in HQ CO 112th Pennsylvania Regt. 28th Division, was Radio Communications Dept. Message Center Chief, M1 Rifle Sharp Shooter and received the Combat Infantry Badge, CO 33 & 40 WD 45 (Rineland, Ardennes, Central Europe). He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a son of the late Domenick Marateo and Caroline Frascino Marateo and the husband of the late Eleanor Sannelli Marateo.
Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kirk & Nice Funeral Home in Philadelphia, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park in Philadelphia. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kirk & Nice Funeral Home. J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, is in charge of local arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Carol Davis and her husband, Norm, of Bowling Green, Eleanor Theresa Harding and her husband, John, of Wynnewood, Pa., and Frances Phyllis Skolnicki and her husband, John, of Glenn Mills, Pa.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
