- KAREN ROHRER
Bowling Green is a better place because of Karen Rohrer. She pitches in to help at any volunteer job she takes on.
Since 1986 she has been a faithful volunteer for Hotel, Inc., transporting donations from Boatlanding Road to Solomon’s Cellar Thrift Store. Her Big Blue Whale (her van) is often jammed with Hotel goodies which she loads and unloads often without help.
She also recruits volunteers, does mailings, and helps organize dinners to recognize other volunteers for Hotel, Inc.
Additionally, Karen runs “The Burning Bush” program, which furnishes essential household items and furniture to families after a house fire.
As a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, Karen volunteers in the Bread Ministry where she takes a loaf of homemade bread to the home of local visitors who were in church the previous Sunday.
In the United Methodist Women, she was elected to the office of district treasurer for a four-year term which handles funds from 32 churches in the district. This all-volunteer job involves many meetings and travel and is done with a willing spirit.
Karen has also been involved in a program called “Ties-That-Bond”, which provides volunteer friends for the elderly from Thanksgiving through Christmas.
Karen Rohrer is a special person with a charitable heart and encourages other volunteers by her dedication and hard work.
