The move will expand PSCs service and customer base deeper into the Southeast. Causey buys scrap aluminum, copper, brass and steel and operates two car-crushing crews.

Causeys scrap metal yard on Morgantown Road will be moved to Kelly Court off Kelly Road. The auto salvage yard will remain on Morgantown Road.

Dennis Causey said by joining PSC, the business could expand services and have a working relationship with the city.

We had in mind to move (the scrap) out there because of the proximity to the interstate and the (Kentucky TriModal) Transpark and the future development in that area, Causey said.

PSC plans to add services to the scrap yard, called a feeder yard, by bringing in transportation equipment to haul product to customers. Causey Enterprises ran the scrap metal yard for two and a half years before deciding to sell to PSC. Dennis Causey and his brother, David Causey, will stay on with PSC as consultants.

Were going to more or less help them in an advisory role, coordinating and trying to get new businesses, Causey said.

The scrap feeder yard accepts all sorts of discarded metals from construction and demolition sites, junk appliances and automobiles. The metal is processed and will now be sent to Nashville, where PSC has a metal mill that breaks the material down even further. A mill will melt down the metal for sale to manufacturers who will refine it into reusable stocks in the form of plates or bars.

PSC has elaborate metal and scrap processing operations in the southeast and plans to add services to the Bowling Green facility.

The services will change dramatically, Causey said. Theyll have factory pick-ups if (a factory) has scrap they want to get rid of. They will also have some disposal facilities for cardboard and perishable and non-perishable goods.

Were working with the city and the Keep It Clean Bowling Green effort, he added. Well be able to pick up stuff from peoples yards if they call us.

Causey said items called white goods, such as old washing machines, dryers and other predominately sheet metal tin appliances, will probably be the most frequently picked up pieces, which otherwise end up as eyesores in neighborhoods.

Causey said the new operation will be state-of-the-art.

I think its a great thing, he said. Recycling is good. Weve set up a facility to be environmentally friendly.

A PSC representative was unavailable for comment by press time. A release from PSC said Kelly Baker has been appointed manager of the Bowling Green facility.

Based in Cleveland, Ohio, PSC buys, sells and processes metals.

The release said the company plans hire more employees.  Daily News ·813 College St. ·PO Box 90012 ·Bowling Green, KY ·42102 ·270-781-1700
