FRANKLIN Dr. Phil Anthony Drake, 49, of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Franklin, died April 25, 2005, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla.

The Simpson County native was a 1973 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School, a 1977 graduate of Western Kentucky University and a 1981 graduate of University of Louisville Dental School. He began his dental practice in 1981 in Franklin. He was a member of Franklin Church of Christ and Vero Beach Power Squadron. He was a son of the late Ernest Phillip Drake and Viola Morgan Drake of Franklin, who survives.

Graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Greenlawn Cemetery. Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or Franklin Church of Christ.

Other survivors include his wife, Janet Newman Drake; his mother-in-law, Elaine Rust of Bowling Green; a daughter, Lauren Drake of Murray; four sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rhonda Barrow and her husband, Merrill, and Bonnie Fugate and her husband, Steve, all of Franklin, Michelle Hall and her husband, Mitch, of Auburn, and Cherie Chavez and her husband, Kenny, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
