A 30-year-old Bowling Green man arrested March 24 for allegedly robbing Kentucky Trust Bank on Fairview Avenue was indicted Wednesday by a Warren County grand jury.

Wesley Blake Mayhew, 102 Riverwood Drive, was originally charged by the Bowling Green Police Department with second-degree robbery, but the grand jury indicted him on a charge of first-degree robbery.

Based on previous alleged acts from mid-February, the grand jury also indicted Mayhew on charges of fraudulent use of a credit or debit card over $100 within a six-month period, theft by deception over $300 and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Mayhew was arrested within an hour after police say he entered the bank, handed two tellers a note demanding money and walked out carrying $459 cash. Mayhew has been in Warren County Regional Jail on $25,000 cash bond since his arrest.

The Kentucky Trust Bank robbery was the third such incident in Bowling Green this year, with previous robberies at South Central Bank on Fairview Avenue and National City Bank on Scottsville Road. All three cases ended in arrest.
