Bowling Green Police Department holding ribbon-cutting ceremony

Members of the public are invited to attend the Bowling Green Police Departments ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to celebrate the completion of its new 16,000-square-foot addition.
The ceremony will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. outside the headquarters on Kentucky Street, weather permitting. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held inside the departments newly renovated community room, just off the main lobby.
The departments storage room for evidence and recovered property has expanded five and a half times its former size, and the emergency communications dispatch area has doubled in size.
With land purchase, construction and furnishing, the project was expected to cost $4.9 million, and was completed slightly under budget.
Arrest South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force, based in Russellville, worked three drug-related incidents this week.
Early today, the task force, Kentucky State Police and Logan County Sheriffs deputies executed a search warrant at the home of 39-year-old David W. Shelton and 26-year-old Dana M. Hope. Officers said they found eight grams of methamphetamine and active meth cooking at the residence at 4840 Quality Road.

Two minor children of Shelton at the home were put into protective custody by social services.
Shelton and Hope were jailed in the Logan County Detention Center, awaiting bond. Shelton is charged with manufacturing meth, trafficking in meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of anyhdrous ammonia in improper container with the intent to manufacture and two counts of wanton endangerment. Hope was charged with complicity to manufacture meth, trafficking in meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 2:45 p.m. Thursday, task force officers, Franklin Police Department officers and sheriffs deputies arrested 50-year-old Ricky Clayton at his home at 400 Bell St. Officers said they found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia at the home. Clayton is charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is jailed in the Simpson County Detention Center on $2,500 cash bond.
A Logan County man was arrested Tuesday on drug charges after investigators from the drug task force said they found him in possession of drug paraphernalia, $415 and five bags of suspected marijuana.
Joshua P. Lee, 23, of Russellville was arrested when detectives searched his 1713 Lewisburg Road home with a warrant. The total amount of suspected marijuana was 0.76 ounces.
Lee was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released earlier this week from Logan County Detention Center.
Arrest Travis Alan Reece, 23, 611 Lynwood Ave., was arrested early this morning on drug charges after being stopped by Bowling Green police for a traffic violation.
Police stopped Reece after noticing his rear license plate was not illuminated. When officers approached the car, they said his speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy. After a search of the vehicle, officers said they found a concealed knife under the passengers seat and two plastic bags containing a white substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Reece was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, rear license plate not illuminated, operating on a suspended license and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
