The Southern Kentucky Youth Basketball League has been building on decades of the youth basketball program at Bowling Green Parks and Recreation.

The current league, now in its 20th formal year, includes more than 700 boys and girls organized into 70 teams in five divisions: beginner, both boys and girls ages 6 and 7; girls primary, girls ages 8 and 9; boys primary, boys ages 8 and 9; girls elementary, girls ages 10 and 11; boys elementary, boys ages 10 and 11; prep boys and/or girls ages 12 and 13; and JV boys and/or girls ages 14-16.

The 10-game regular season runs from December to mid-March, ending with a single-elimination tournament for all divisions, except the beginner division.

Registration begins the third week of October, and fees range from $35 to $45 per player and include a jersey. Practices are held every day at all city schools and games are played Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays at the Sidd Carr Gymnasium in the F.O. Moxley Center on Center Street. Admission is free and concessions are available.
