Parade of Homes returns
Annual tour of companies finest buildings begins today
Thursday, September 16, 2004
The Builders Association of Bowling Green will show that there is no place like a new home with the 2004 Parade of Homes.
The event will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at various locations throughout Bowling Green and Warren County.
Admission is $5 for ages 6 and older and free for children under 6. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Warren East High Schools Lady Raiders Booster Club, and the show is co-sponsored by BB&T and WBKO-TV.
This years Parade of Homes will feature 30 homes half of which were custom-built for individuals, the others spec homes that are for sale built by registered Builders Association members, said Mary Vaughn, Builders Association executive officer.
Builders must meet strict requirements if they want to join the Builders Association, she said. They must be professional people before we consider them for membership.
Participants generally enjoy the tours, Vaughn said.
People get building and decorating ideas, she said. Everybody wants to own their own home or fix up what theyve got. Its the biggest thing theyll purchase in a lifetime.
One of the homes featured is at 1210 Lakemere in the Fountain Trace subdivision off Cemetery Road. The three- to four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home built by Gemini Homes features 3,130 square feet of living space. Arches are repeated throughout the home. Some of the homes features include a custom kitchen island, hardwood flooring, basket pullouts in the laundry and an upstairs loft area overlooking the two-story foyer.
Its an open, livable, user-friendly floor plan, said Gemini Homes President Kelly Arnold, who is co-chairman of the Parade of Homes. It has a Tuscany flair.
Gemini Homes has been participating in the Parade of Homes since 1996.
Its good exposure for us and the Builders Association, he said.
