MORGANTOWN Freeman Staples, 75, of Provo died at 7 a.m. June 17, 2004, in Bowling Green.

The Butler County native was a retired police officer, served in the Army and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a son of the late Carlie Staples and Sarah Hawes Staples. He was preceded in death Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Monticello Baptist Church in Provo, where he was a member, with burial in Monticello Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Howerton Staples; two sons, Allan Staples and his wife, Anita, of Provo and James Staples and his wife, Rhonda, of Bowling Green; three sisters, Exie Halcomb and Carmon Clark, both of Bowling Green, and Frida Staples of Provo; and three grandchildren, Monica Staples, Kayla Staples and Paul Freeman Staples, all of Provo.  Daily News ·813 College St. ·PO Box 90012 ·Bowling Green, KY ·42102 ·270-781-1700
