Ashlee Wilson to attend arts schoolAshlee Wilson, daughter of Warren Circuit Judge Steve and Jane Wilson, will attend the Governors School for the Arts June 20-July 10 at Transylvania University in Lexington. She will be studying musical theater. A student at Bowling Green High School, Ashlee is one of 224 chosen for the program out of more than 1,200 applicants. Barton Darrell namedto board of trusteesBarton D. Darrell, an attorney with Bell, Orr, Ayers & Moore in Bowling Green, has been appointed to the Kentucky Wesleyan College Board of Trustees. Darrell previously served on the Kentucky Wesleyan Board from 1998-2001 when he stepped down to accept an appointment as a member of Kentuckys Council on Postsecondary Education, where he became vice-chair, serving until his term expired in 2004. Darrell is a Kentucky Wesleyan College alum and is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Law. He is the legal counsel for the Warren County Public Schools and the Daviess County Public Schools. Mid-Continent has two local graduatesRebecca Kay Stewart of Bowling Green and Ronald Gene Spurgeon of Franklin graduated May 15 from Mid-Continent University in Mayfield. Spurgeon graduated magna cum laude. Don Rodgers of BG earns athletics awardDon Francis Rodgers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Rodgers of Bowling Green, received the Stephen Elliot Puckette III Athletic Award at the University of the Souths commencement ceremonies May 16. Oaklands Rena McCaig on deans listRena Lachelle McCaig, daughter of Lynn Regina Goodman of Oakland, was named to the deans list for the 2004 spring semester at Central Baptist College in Conway, Ark. To be eligible for this honor, students must be enrolled full time with a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.William McCaig earns arts degreeWilliam Cory McCaig, son of William and Linda McCaig of Bowling Green, graduated May 1 from Central Baptist College in Conway, Ark. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in Bible studies with an emphasis in pastoral studies. McCaig also received the Outstanding Biblical Studies Award at a recent student appreciation banquet. This award is given to a graduating senior with a minimum of two years of biblical languages, who has an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.5 in Bible studies, and has demonstrated ability to do superior work in the area of research. Dala Narramore on Harding deans listDala Narramore of Bowling Green has been named to the deans list at Harding University in Searcy, Ark., for the spring 2004 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must be carrying 12 or more hours and have an average scholarship level of at least 3.65.Sara Roberts earns degree at HardingSara Roberts of Bowling Green graduated May 15 from Harding University in Searcy, Ark. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. Jordan Starr onCarson-Newman list Jordan Rebekah Starr of Bowling Green has been named to the deans list at Carson-Newman College for the spring 2004 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must complete at least 12 credit hours of work and maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.5.Two from Warrenon EKU deans listDavid Curtis Baker of Bowling Green and Jared John Madison of Smiths Grove have been named to the deans list at Eastern Kentucky University for the spring 2004 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students taking 14 or more credit hours must earn at least a 3.5 grade-point average; students taking 13 hours must achieve a 3.65 GPA; and students taking 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 GPA.Centre College grads include nine from BGNine Bowling Green natives earned bachelors degrees from Centre College in Danville during recent commencement exercises on the campus. Eight from Warren on Murray deans listThe following individuals from Warren County have achieved deans list status for the spring 2004 semester at Murray State University: Nicole DeFreeze, Rebecca Garmon, Adam Green, Christina Hall, Erin Hampton, Brian Jennings, Brad Modlin and Julia Winstead. Students must achieve a grade-point average of at least 3.5 to be eligible for deans list status. Garmon, Green, Hall and Winstead maintained a perfect 4.0 scholastic average. Ashlee Rudolphearns Va. Tech degreeAshlee Rudolph of Bowling Green graduated May 14 from Virginia Tech. She received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture and applied economics. GHS Bret Embry earns national awardBret A. Embry, son of Blane and Debbie Embry of Bowling Green, has been named a United States National Award winner for academic achievement. The Greenwood High School student will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, which is published nationally. Tiffany Cowan of Rville on deans listTiffany Cowan, daughter of Cynthia Cowan of Russellville, has been named to the deans list at the University of Evansville for the spring 2004 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn a 3.5 grade-point average while carrying 12 or more hours of credit. BG women earndegrees at SamfordElizabeth Wells Cassady and Amanda Lee Southerland, both of Bowling Green, graduated May 22 from Samford University. Cassady earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing, while Southerland earned a doctor of pharmacy degree. Ashley Floyd inductedinto Phi Kappa PhiAshley L. Floyd, daughter of Doug and Lisa Floyd of Bowling Green, has been inducted into the Samford University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. The honor society recognizes superior achievement in all academic disciplines. WKU scholarshipsgo to area graduatesWestern Kentucky University continues to dole out scholarships to area high school graduates. Jnora Kathleen McCutchen of Woodburn, a graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School whose parents are Brenita and Charles McCutchen Jr., received a University Leadership Scholarship and plans to major in elementary education. Chris Emberton of Bowling Green, a graduate of Warren Central High School whose parents are Randy and Tyra Spears, received a Charles Roy Martin Scholarship and plans to major in electrical engineering. Kimberly Watkins of Bowling Green, a graduate of Warren Central whose parent is Mary Watkins, received a Henry F. Moss Scholarship and plans to major in early childhood education. Jarin Thornton of Scottsville received a Regents Scholarship. Thornton, whose parents are Jack and Frances Thornton, is a homeschool student and plans to major in chemistry. Joshua David Butler of Rockfield received a Warren Central High School Faculty Scholarship. Butler, whose parents are Jack and Joni Butler, is a graduate of Warren Central and plans to major in pre-law and business management. CHC employees earn masters degreesTwo Commonwealth Health Corp. employees recently earned masters degrees from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. Rich and Lisa Lopez each received a master of science in Health Administration. Lisa Lopez is the Health and Insurance Portability and Accountability Act coordinator for CHC and has been employed by the company since 1997. She has a bachelors degree from Western Kentucky University in corporate and organizational communications. Rich Lopez began with CHC in 1999 and serves as director of Management Engineering and Decision Support.
