MORGANTOWN Walter W. Gardner, 89, of Morgantown died at 12:45 p.m. Dec. 25, 2004, at a Calhoun nursing home.

The Mississippi native was a retired truck driver. He was a son of the late Melvin Gardner and Rosa Sumner Gardner and the husband of the late Mildred Thomas Gardner.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Chapel, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Nashville. Visitation is in progress until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, John K. Gardner and his wife, Alice, of Calhoun; a sister, Mary Beck of Nashville; five granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
