Groups are electing their 2005 leaders

Two local organizations have met this month and given awards and elected officers.
The Builders Association of Bowling Green installed new officers and directors for 2005 on Dec. 4 at Indian Hills Country Club. Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon presided over the ceremony. Rodney Rogers of S&R Excavating, a division of Stewart-Richey Construction, will take office as president Jan. 1. Doug Martens of Doug Martens Construction was awarded 2004 Builder of the Year. Steve Cherry of the Progressive Realtor Group was honored as 2004 Associate of the Year.
Mayor-elect Elaine Walker installed the 2005 Builders Associations Womens Council officers and directors.
Members of the REALTOR Association of Southern Kentucky Inc. were honored for their achievements at the associations annual banquet held Dec. 9. Officers and directors of the association for next year were installed as well.
John Huggins of Coldwell Banker Legacy Real Estate will lead the organization as president. The REALTOR of the Year Award was presented to Andy Wilkins of Re/Max Real Estate Executives. Wilkins serves as director of the association and has been a member since 1996. He was also the 2004 state convention chairman.
Steve Cline of Western Realty GMAC Real Estate received the Distinguished Service Award. This award is given to a member who has continually supported the organization through its projects, committees and board of directors. Cline has been a member for 15 years. He serves as the MLS president and chairman of the building committee.
Doris Carver of Coldwell Banker Legacy Real Estate received the Charles W. Long Award. The award is based on membership under two years, association involvement and education. She joined the association in 2003. She will serve as the 2005 chairwoman of the associations committee designed for new members.
Other members recognized included service awards for continuous membership in the association.
The Bowling IRS office will move from 2530 Scottsville Road to 200 W. Professional Park Court. The office will be open for tax assistance from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will be closed for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Toll-free IRS assistance is available at (800) 829-1040 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. Forms, publications and instructions are available by calling (800) 829-3676 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Bowling Green Professional Marketing Association will hold its next meeting at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 18 at the Carroll Knicely Center. Find out more about PMA at www.pmabg.org.
The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce office will be closed Thursday and Friday and Dec. 30 and 31 in celebration of the holiday season.
Only one month is still available for full sponsorship in the chamber Coffee Hour in April and then a shared sponsorship in May.
The Coffee Hour serves as the setting for the chambers monthly gathering. The event is held nine times a year on the last Friday of the month at a local facility most commonly the Sloan Convention Center.
Coffee Hour sponsors are invited to use the cover of the chamber newsletter as a marketing tool. The sponsor also works with the chamber to provide the speaker or guest for the gathering.
