FRANKLIN Dorothy Babb, 92, of Franklin died at 2:15 a.m. Feb. 15, 2004, at The Medical Center.The Robertson County, Tenn., native received her grade school education from Lamont in Robertson County, graduated magna cum laude in 1929 from Franklin High School, where she was a salutatorian and recipient of the R.H. Moore Loving Cup. In 1933, she received an A.B. degree from Western Kentucky State Teachers College in Bowling Green and in 1941, she graduated from George Peabody College in Nashville with a bachelor of science degree in library science. Her career as a librarian included working at the Library Extension Division in Frankfort and at several high schools. She served at Fort Campbell under civil service as a cataloger for the Post Library from 1956-1974. She was a member of Franklin First Baptist Church, where she served as a pianist of the Adult Department of the Sunday School and sang in the Adult Choir. She was a daughter of the late James Edgar Babb and Lucy Witt Babb.Funeral will be at 10 .m. Tuesday at Booker Gilbert Funeral Home, with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Music Ministry and Franklin First Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister, Aileen Arianna Babb of Franklin; and several cousins.
